Larry Lickteig

Actuarial Science Advisory Board
Biography

Larry Lickteig grew up on a farm in northern Iowa. It was here that he had his first exposure to derivatives and markets, as most farmers were well in tune with the price of corn and soybeans and we listened to farm markets at least once per day. After high school, Larry served in the Army and lived in both Europe and Asia. After the Army, he went to college and graduated with a B.S. degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Iowa in 1996, and obtained his FSA in 2001 and CERA in 2008.

In 1996 he began working at AEGON, which today operates as Transamerica in the US. He has primarily worked with annuities during his time at Transamerica. This includes working in many different areas, including Pricing/Product Development, Risk Management, and Valuation areas. He has also worked in a couple of liaison type roles, including working with the Derivatives Desk (which was in a different division at the time), and also serving as liaison with fund managers who managed mutual funds within the variable annuity block of business.

Larry’s outside interests include chess, reading, travel, and watching Hawkeye sports. GO HAWKS!
