Jordan Turner
How did you hear about the internship?
From the Actuarial Science, Insurance, and Risk Management Career Fair–I hadn’t heard about Allianz Life before, but my curiosity was piqued while prepping for the fair.
Allianz Life seemed perfect for me with its location, products offered and aligned values and culture. My first stop on career fair day had to be Allianz Life, and the actuarial recruiters (my coworkers still today) validated all those great things, soon after I accepted my first internship.
Why did you choose this particular internship?
I’ve made close connections with my team and peers, I enjoy the work arrangement flexibility, and I like that there’s no rotation program but still flexibility to transition into different roles that spark my interest.
There’s strong support and recognition from leaders on the work we do; I really have a sense of ownership of my work and its outcomes.
I also appreciate Allianz Life’s commitment to continuous community outreach, inclusion, and learning (like a robust actuarial study program). Of course the campus amenities are great – gym, health center, music/art spaces, courtyard, two cafeterias (to name a few)–but the location itself in the Twin Cities and everything it offers is amazing!
Why should Iowa students consider participating in this internship?
Actuarial interns at Allianz Life work on truly impactful projects that apply and bolster their technical abilities, soft skills, and actuarial knowledge. The projects are unique for each intern and provide a real-world experience of what being an actuary is like at Allianz Life. Alongside a direct manager, there’s plenty of opportunities to work with other full-time actuaries and actuarial interns. The interns also get a packed summer full of fun events to explore the Twin Cities!
