How did you hear about the internship?

I first heard about Allianz through a family member. My uncle Scott had been working as an actuary for Allianz for about 20 years. Once I decided I wanted to be an actuary, I asked him about working here, and he had tons of good things to say, so I applied for and later received a full-time position.

Why did you choose this particular internship?

I interned at a P&C company but decided I did not want a career in P&C. I decided that life insurance, and specifically Allianz were the place for me, because I love the types of problems I get to solve, and the teams I work with to solve them. I've never worked anywhere else with employees so open, communicative, and collaborative. It's something I value very highly, and keeps the work fresh, interesting, and enjoyable.

Why should Iowa students consider participating in this internship?

Allianz consistently challenges its interns to do interesting and important work. In my full-time tenure, I've consistently worked with interns on high-profile, high-importance projects, and I'm certain that they are getting more experience, on more important work than myself, or other people I know have at other companies, while still getting a wonderful social experience from the internship. I wish I had interned here, and I know several other full time employees who wish they had as well.
