How did you hear about the internship?

I first heard about Allianz Life from a unique source–my dentist! Her son, Ken Christy, works at Allianz, and she suggested that I reach out to him and learn more about the company. He spoke very highly of our work-life balance, community culture, and encouraged me to reach out to an intern who was an Iowa student, Jordan Turner. After speaking with Jordan, Allianz rose to the top of my list. I applied and was accepted for my first internship!

Why did you choose this particular internship?

Allianz Life has a wonderful culture, where I have gotten to know my colleagues at both a professional and personal level. Employees are encouraged to share their opinions and feel confident that their colleagues support them 100%.

I also have had the opportunity to work on projects that are engaging and result in real impact across the company. I was always told by my parents that “if I enjoyed where I worked and who I worked with, I would never work a day in my life” and I feel like working for Allianz Life has helped me accomplish both.

Why should Iowa students consider participating in this internship?

Allianz Life has a great internship program that provides the opportunity to do real work that impacts our company, and experience what it would be like to live in Minneapolis (our location). Our internship projects provide opportunities to grow in both technical and personal skills, through coding projects, presentations, and more. We plan many events for interns, such as Minnesota Twins games, boat cruises, and others to showcase all that Minneapolis has to offer!
